I bet, getting drunk would be wonderful in times like thies, and as you know, I can't stop you, I can only say this. You told me you didnt want to drink anymore, and you told me to stop you from doing just that. But its your choice, I just hope you think about what will happen after the 'drunk, good time' part of it. will you be happy, with your self, or not.
I wont say you should or shouldn't do anything. All I can ask is that you listen to the words I write here.

awww, I didn't make it to the top 6!!! I say ask your mom to get drunk with you. Seriously, just tell her you need it, it's gonna happen, and explain you just want to drink responsibly. What better way to do it, and you won't regret it because you will have a unique new bond with your mom. She prolly could use a good friend to relax with too and can definitely relate. Don't use the word "drunk" though if you do bring it up to her, "drunk" is such an ugly word, use a line like, "will you share a drink and a couple hours with me, I need someone to talk to about [stress x, y, z, ect] and can't trust anyone else to take the edge off with and I don't want to regret anything I might do when I'm buzzed. I'm smart enough but I seriously can't handle my stress right now."
Seriously, were all human here with human lives full of confusion and stress, ask her, what's she gonna say "no go be with the world and risk your well being" ???
Of course this might not be a good idea if your mum is a violent or inconsiderate distant person to you or hates alcohol with a passion...If she's anything else to you I can guarantee a positive outcome if you are level with her.
[/my 2 cents]
